About the Stockholm Cup
First run in 1937, the Stockholm Cup has moved venues three times in its history. Currently staged at Bro Park, Sweden’s purpose-built racing headquarters (opened in 2016), 2023’s meeting featured a flying dismount from Frankie Dettori.
Stockholm Cup Day also includes three listed contets: the Lanwades Stud Stakes, the Tattersalls Nickes Minneslöpning and the Bro Park Sprint Championship. It also sees two jump races: HM The King’s Prize (over fences) and HM The Queen’s Prize (over hurdles).
Guests on 2023’s trip met Hollie Doyle. They also posed questions to Swedish racing professionals, including trainer Patrick Wahl and top jockeys Ulrika Holmquist and Per-Anders Gråberg.

Our trip to Stockholm in 2024
Germany’s Best Of Lips landed the feature race, while the three Listed contests all went to Scandinavian-trained runners.
On Friday evening, we met for drinks at the Grand Hotel. Saturday, meanwhile, saw us take a private tour of the Royal Stables. That evening, we enjoyed dinner on a boat cruise via Drottingholm Palace.
On Sunday morning, we were shown the yard of top trainer Patrick Wahl. We then chatted to star jockey Ulrika Holmquist outside the weighing room, before meeting owners and trainers during a champagne reception in the garden of Bro Park’s manor house. A three-course lunch was served in Bro Park’s panoramic restaurant as racing got underway.
