Each enclosure at the Epsom Derby delivers something distinctive — from the relaxed, trackside Lonsdale Enclosure with its prime spots along the finishing straight and close-up views of the dramatic finish, to the versatile Grandstand Enclosure offering thrilling start-to-finish action and an electric atmosphere, right up to the prestigious Queen Elizabeth II Stand featuring unrivalled views of the course, prime access to the Parade Ring, Winners’ Enclosure, and a sophisticated, traditional vibe.
Where possible, we recommend guests upgrade to at least the Grandstand Enclosure to ensure the best possible experience.

The Epsom Derby is the world’s most famous Classic and the pinnacle of the Flat racing season at Epsom Downs. Ladies Day
Day one is Ladies Day. A show of the finest finery. Expect heart thumping action and breathtaking style, as horses, jockeys and racegoers go all out for the thrill. Ladies Day features the third Classic of the season, The Betfred Oaks, another race of historic importance contested by the best fillies of their generation. The Group One Coronation Cup is unmatched and unmissable. Always highly anticipated and never underwhelming.
Derby Day
Day two is Derby Day. In 2023 Auguste Rodin took the honours in the world’s greatest Flat race. Expect ups, downs and history in the making. A spectacular, gleeful, celebratory day where people come together to join in racing’s most unforgettable carnival. The crown jewel of all races, The Betfred Derby. The one that sired them all the others. This is the birthplace of thoroughbred sprinting, one chance for horses to make history. It’s not one to miss.
Upper Tattenham / Lonsdale / Grandstand Enclosures
There is no official dress code in the Grandstand enclosure at The Betfred Derby Festival. Racegoers are encouraged to come “dressed to feel your best”.
From bright and bold to subtle and sophisticated. This is racing’s most spectacular carnival, after all.
Queen Elizabeth II Stand
While the rest of our racecourse follows a “dress to feel your best” guidance, The Queen Elizabeth II Stand does have a smart dress code in place on Derby Day.
In keeping with the event an area is reserved for those who wish to wear Morning Dress on Derby Day, in the same way there are areas all over the racecourse and on The Hill in the middle of track, where people have been encouraged to wear whatever they feel comfortable in, however informal, since the race was first run in 1780.
